Hanyu Li, 23, of Boston, and Dezheng Hong, 26 of Quincy, were both seriously in a UTV crash in Jericho Mountain State Park in Berlin, New Hampshire on Sunday, Aug. 27, according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game division.

Li was driving a rental UTV with Hong as a passenger on the Brook Road Trail in the park. They were in a group of three UTVs and were headed down a steep downhill corner when Li over-corrected to machine to avoid going off the side of the trail.

The over-correction caused his UTV to flip over multiple times before crashing into a tree on the side of the trail.

Others in the group rushed over and called 911, sending first responders from Berlin Fire Department, Berlin Ambulance, and Berlin Police to the scene.

EMS took Li and Hong to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

Officials said that both men were wearing appropriate safety gear and seatbelts which prevented further injuries.
